LPCSC jazz groups receive ISSMA gold ratings

laporte-slicersLa Porte High School hosted the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Jazz Festival on March 1 and 2. The LPHS Jazz Band and Lab Band each received a Gold Division Rating with Distinction due to their high scores for their performances. The LPHS Show Choir, Boston Middle School Jazz Band, and Kesling Middle School Jazz Band each received Gold Division Ratings. The following members of these ensembles received Outstanding Soloist Awards:

  • LPHS Jazz Band: Zeke Chairez (3), Matthew Knouse, Richard Minor, Victor Sirugo.
  • LPHS Lab Band: Alyse Ames, Logan Gard, Aaron Kroening, Sarah Smith, Liam Wolf (2).
  • Boston Jazz Band: Vada Albin, Nathan Donah, Brooke Enos, Lauren Miskowicz, Emily Siefker, Dominic Thomson.
  • Kesling Jazz Band: Jasmine De La Luz, Ava Holtz, Esther Chairez-Munoz.

Groups are evaluated by a panel of three judges and are awarded Gold, Silver, or Bronze Ratings, or a Participation Award. A Gold Rating is the best rating with the Gold Rating with Distinction being the best possible numerical scores. Judges also award students deemed worthy with Outstanding Soloist Awards.
