LPCDJR, Community, Come Together to Give $5,000 to LPHS Marching Band

MattMagThanks to the tremendous support of the La Porte community and the Marching Band family at Drive 4 Ur School Day, La Porte Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM (LPCDJR) was able to present a check to the La Porte High School Band for $5,000; the maximum payout for the Drive 4 Ur School Program.

The check will go towards helping the band in their march towards the State title this week in Indianapolis.

GM of LPCDJR, Matt Magnuson, credits the Slicer community for braving the inclement weather that day in order to give back to their school and community during the Drive 4 Ur School campaign.

“It was rainy and cold that day,” Magnuson told IIMM. “My wife and I showed up early to the school not knowing what to expect, but there were already 40-50 cars waiting in line to give back to the school.”

“Even the band members themselves were there early to help my wife and I setup the drives and get everything ready.”

And the result of this outpouring of support from the community was a Drive 4 Ur School Day unlike any other Magnuson had ever seen.

“We did 353 test drives that day,” added Magnuson. “353.”

And for Magnuson, a former member of the La Porte High School Marching Band himself, the spectacular success of the program holds a special place in his heart; a moment Magnuson says he will never forget.

“It absolutely is the best feeling to know that we did this great and we are able to give so much back to the community.”
