Leadership LaPorte County recently held its annual Board of Directors Strategic Planning Retreat and fiscal-year ending Board Meeting. A new slate of officers was approved at the meeting: President- Lance Werner (Michigan City Area Schools), Vice President - Jason Miller (LaPorte County Visitors Bureau), Treasurer – Angie Smoker (Lambert, Lanoue and Smoker CPAs) and Secretary – Cathy Homan (LaPorte Community School Corporation).
Outgoing officers were also recognized for their service. Stephanie Stout (LaPorte Savings Bank), previous board President was thanked for her two-term (6 years) of service. Stout will remain on the board at-large. Former Vice President Werner was elected to the role of President. Treasurer Gretchen Kalk (Craighead, Lange & Hough CPAs), who has served multiple terms as Treasurer will remain an at-large member. Former Secretary Stephanie Smith (formerly employed with IU Health LaPorte Hospital) resigned from the board after two officer terms.
The board welcomes Ruth Ambers (IU Health LaPorte Hospital) to a new three year term. Ambers, a recent graduate of the Leadership Program, was selected as class representative of the 29th Class. The board accepted the resignation of Dawn Krueger (Hamilton Communities).
