Leadership La Porte County “Apply & Nominate” Breakfast Meeting

Leadership-LaPorte-CountyLeadership La Porte County will host a Breakfast meeting at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 22 at the Best Western Hotel & Conference Center in La Porte. Community members are invited to attend to apply or nominate an individual for the 31st session of the Adult Community Leadership Program. The cost to attend the meeting is $10 and includes a breakfast buffet. Reservations are required. Click here to register online.

For the 31st year a group of La Porte County citizens will be selected to participate in the 9 month-long program, geared at engaging participants in leadership skill-building, gaining information about La Porte County, and networking with local leaders. The program begins on Sept. 19 and 20 with a retreat and continues one day each month through May. Only 30 people will be chosen, and a diverse make-up of the class is important to its success. The cost is $900 which can be paid in installments. Some partial scholarships are available.

The breakfast meeting will offer an opportunity to hear from alumni of the program about the benefits of participation. The program is designed for participants to:

-Learn about the issues facing La Porte County, explore them in-depth with current community leaders and discover ways to get involved and help affect change.
-Meet the business and civic leaders who have made La Porte county what it is today—and can help you shape and realize your vision for what we’ll become in the future.
-Develop positive and meaningful relationships with fellow class members.
-Build a network of community contacts – friendships and business associations that will stand the test of time.
-Examine and build upon your leadership style, your self-reflection, your collaboration when working in teams, and your community service efforts.

“We are excited to offer the 31st year of our program and we’re looking forward to working with a new group of community-minded citizens, ” stated Monica Komasinski, executive director of Leadership La Porte County. “This program has impacted hundreds of citizens in countless ways. We are proud to have an alumni base out in the community practicing good community leadership.”
