Looking Glass: Exploring Self Portaiture (Hyndman Gallery) examines the art of self-study through the lens of photography and video. Exhibiting artists include Rachael Banks, Shane Booth, Gail R. Dodge & Anna Garner, Nancy Floyd, Julia Grieve, and Jessica Jacobs. Curated by Gray Lyons and Linda Wilson, who are both are professors of photography at Indiana University South Bend and respected contemporary photographers in the field of portraiture and alternative photographic processes.

Taehoon Kim: Poem of a Boy Who Stopped Growing (Brincka/Cross and North View Gallery) solo show features ceramic sculptures that engage with the physical and emotional evolution of creatures. The exhibition attempts to reveal and develop persuasive reflection on the essence of a man and its connection with creatures. Taehoon was born in Korea and earned two Master of Fine Arts degrees at the Hongik University in Korea and School of the Art Institute in Chicago. Kim has exhibited both nationally and internationally and currently resides in Chicago, Illinois.

LCA-May-First-Friday-Opening-Reception-and-Live-Performance-Art-02LCA is pleased to announce two performing migratory art pieces that will add a new dimensional element during the opening reception. Untitled (Internal Kinesis) performed by José Santiago Pérez will explore what happens when self-portraiture is performed in space and time before others. The performance will illustrate a self-portrait that shifts and unfolds in time and in physical response to objects, artwork, audience, and living rhythms. December performed by Udita Upadhyaya will address the pathways of desire, craving, trauma, and shame and their many intersections. Upadhyaya will navigate her biological and ancestoral relationship with her gender.
