Lake Central remains the highest rated Northwest Indiana team in the latest Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) poll released on Monday. The Indians, who sport a 13-2 record, are ranked sixth, receiving 323 points in the poll.
They are followed by area teams Bowman Academy (No. 9) and Munster (No. 14).
Lowell is among 27 teams receiving votes in the poll that did not appear in the Top 20.
With their recent loss to Penn, the La Porte Slicers girls basketball team dropped to the No. 9 ranking in the latest women's basketball poll, but still lead area teams with an 18-2 record.
Lake Central, also 18-2, is at the number 12 ranking with 188 points.
Gary West Side, Hammond Bishop Noll and Merrillville are area teams receiving votes but not appearing in the Top 20.
