Launch of pnw.edu Combines and Replaces Former Purdue Calumet and Purdue North Central Web Domains

Purdue-Northwest-colorPurdue University Northwest launches a new web domain Wednesday (4/6).

The domain—pnw.edu—combines and replaces the domains of Purdue University Calumet (purduecal.edu) and Purdue University North Central (pnc.edu) with plenty of improvements, according to Purdue University Northwest Associate Vice Chancellor of Marketing and Communications Kris Falzone.

Effective Wednesday (4/6), individuals who access Purdue Calumet and Purdue North Central web sites will be redirected to the Purdue University Northwest http://www.pnw.edu domain.

Combined & improved
“In addition to effectively combining the content of the former Purdue Calumet and North Central domains, the objective was to develop a PNW domain that offers improved navigation, ADA-compliant accessibility and easier information retrieval, while featuring students, faculty and the new PNW brands,” said Falzone, who has overseen a team of four primary web developers from the Calumet and North Central campuses.

Additionally, the more than 400 sites that filled both Calumet and North Central domains have been reduced to a more manageable 120 on the PNW domain.

Planning and research for the PNW site began in February, 2015. The web team began developing the site last July with help from various university units and student assistants.

Purdue University Northwest
Development of the pnw.edu domain was necessitated by the Higher Learning Commission’s recent approval of the establishment of Purdue University Northwest, a unification of Purdue Calumet in Hammond and Purdue North Central in Westville. With more than 15,000 students attending its two campuses, Purdue Northwest becomes Indiana’s fifth largest public university. PNW offers more than 70 undergraduate and graduate degree programs.

Upon conclusion this spring of the current 2015-16 academic year, new and continuing students will become enrollees of Purdue Northwest, attending either PNW’s Calumet or North Central campuses. Purdue Northwest fall semester registration begins Wednesday (4/6).
