LaPorte Winter Guard Wins 2016 MWCGC Championship

laporte-slicersThe La Porte High School Winter Color Guard received the Gold Medal for placing first in the Scholastic Open class finals of the Midwest Color Guard Circuit Championships (MWCGC) held this past weekend at LaPorte High School. Complete class results for Scholastic Open Class were as follows:

  • La Porte - 79.90
  • Marian Catholic - 75.20
  • Chesterton - 71.70

The guard will conclude their season by traveling to Dayton, OH, to compete in the Winter Guard International (WGI) World Championships on April 7-9. They will perform at 1:08 PM EDT Thursday at the Wright State University Nutter Center. The Scholastic Open Class prelims will begin with 51 guards from across the country. 36 guards will advance to the Semi-Finals to be held on Friday at the Nutter Center and the top 20 scoring guards in Semi-Finals will advance to the Finals to be held Saturday at the University of Dayton Arena. La Porte has been a WGI World Championship Finalist four times. Complete information is available at www.wgi.org.
