LaPorte Police Officer Receives Life Saving Award

On 05/08/19 around 5:44 P.M., Officer Adam Jaskowiak responded to a call in the 100 blk. of Plain St. for an unknown problem. Upon arrival he was advised of a male subject who had fallen into a window cutting his arm. Officer Jaskowiak made contact with the male subject who had bright red blood squirting from his arm due to a cut to a major artery. Using his training, Officer Jaskowiak retrieved his tourniquet and was able to apply it to the victims arm. EMS arrived on scene and transported the victim to South Bend where the victim had to undergo surgery. After the incident it was determined that Officer Jaskowiaks actions saved the victims life. Due to his actions Officer Jaskowiak was awarded the departments Life Saving Award by the Chief of Police and LaPorte Police Departments Merit Commission.

This is a great example of the dedication and service provided by the officers of the LaPorte Police Department.
