LaPorte Habitat Receives $35,000 Challenge Pledge for Home Construction

Habitat-for-HumanityLaPorte County Habitat for Humanity has received a challenge from an anonymous donor to help fund the cost of its next home to be built in LaPorte County. The donor will match each dollar donated up to $35,000.

“With the cost of home construction on the rise, the opportunity to raise up to $70,000 for our next building project is huge,” noted Bob Long, Executive Director of LaPorte County Habitat. “Achieving this goal will enable us to build a home in 2016,” he added.

“The donor has sweetened the opportunity for us by releasing the first installment of the challenge in the amount of $6,000. As soon as we match this amount, a second installment of $6,000 will be made. And so on, up to a total of $35,000.”

The campaign, “2016 Challenge Match: Building Homes and Strengthening Families” kicked off November 1. To donate, send checks to LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 8874, Michigan City, Indiana 46361-8874. Write ’16-CM in the memo line of the check.
