Lake Station Volunteers Needed in 2017

Meals-On-Wheels-NWI-New-LogoWhy not consider volunteering to deliver meals in a community that needs your help? Meals on Wheels offers volunteer opportunities delivering meals Monday through Friday during the late morning and noon hour. Our Lake Station clients are in need of generous volunteers who are stepping out into communities they may not live in but feel strongly about our mission. Our mission has always been to deliver proper nutrition to those in need utilizing volunteers. Why not join us for new volunteer training/orientation on Tuesday, January 10, at 10 am and January 19, 2017 at 1 pm? Training is held in our Community Room at 8446 Virginia Street, Merrillville.

Why not join other volunteers and make a difference in not only our client’s day but your’s too? Each day, volunteers assist in the delivery of more than 1,250 meals throughout Lake County. According to Joan Vith, Volunteer Manager, “volunteers are critical to helping us provide proper nutrition to those in need throughout Lake County. We are recruiting new drivers to assist us in the Lake Station community as some of our regular drivers are “snow birds”, and will be out of town during the winter months.”

Interested candidates will have an opportunity to tour the facility and ask questions about Meals on Wheels and the volunteer opportunities in our kitchen and office too. To register for training, or for more information on individual or corporate volunteering opportunities, contact Joan at (219)-756-3663, or email joan@mownwi.org
