Labor Day Weekend Pull-Over Blitz Proves Positive for Michigan City Police Department

Michigan-City-Police-Think-Car-1The Michigan City Police Department has just completed our participation in the Operation Pull Over (OPO) traffic enforcement grant Blitz 80 Drive Sober or get Pulled Over, August 8th thru September 1st, covering the Labor day Weekend. During OPO Blitz 80 the Michigan City Police Department had 25 extra patrols working 74.5hrs of overtime, paid from Grant.

Officers stopped 248 vehicles. Officers wrote 222 citations; 199 for Seat Belt citations, 1 Child restraint violation, 7 Suspended Drivers, 2 Speeding citations, 3 Automatic signal/stop sign citations, and 10 other citations were issued.

  • 5 subjects arrested were made by officers working this grant;
  • 2 Felony arrest; Hosea Lynch was arrested for Possession of Stolen property L6-Felony and Jordan Eldridge was arrested on a warrant for DV Battery D-felony.
  • 5 Misdemeanor arrest; Jordan Eldridge was arrested on a Criminal Mischief warrant B-Misdemeanor, Tyler Hickman was arrested on a Harassment B-Misdemeanor warrant, Mark Brooks was arrested for Public Intoxication B-Misdemeanor and Disorderly Conduct B-Misdemeanor and William Coleman was charged with driving while Suspended/prior conviction A-Misdemeanor.

Officers also wrote 39 warning tickets and assisted with several calls for service.

Officers of the Michigan City Police Department will continue working the Traffic safety grants, including the Countywide DUI Task Force grant to improve the Quality of Life to the citizens of Michigan City.
