La Porte Slicers Boys Cross Country Places 2nd at the DAC, Lanciono Sets Record for Girls

La-Porte-Cross-1Coach Tim Beres is very pleased with how his varsity team performed at the Duneland Athletic Conference Meet for cross country. Beres said, "I am very pleased with the way the boys ran. We have three (runners) who placed in the top 12 and are all-conference. We were very close to Valpo and we wanted to try to hold on to the 2nd spot."

La Porte held that position and had a very close race with Valparaiso with only a 3 point margin, Valpo 52 to La Porte 55. Other scores Crown Point 72, Portage 102, Chesterton 121, Lake Central 134, Michigan City 175 and Merrillville 216.

The all-conference runners for the boys varsity team were: (2) Mitch Hubner 16:03, (6) Dakota Dubbs 16:43 and (9) Anthony Didion.

Not only was Coach Beres pleased with the outcome, but he made mention of 2 brothers, senior Jonathan Didion and sophomore Anthony Didion, on his varsity team who are helping bring their team to the top of the DAC.

The DAC for Cross Country was held at Lake Central High School on October 1, 2011. LCHS is not a favorite course among many cross country runners, with deep and narrow paths coursing through the woods. It was very cold and muddy that day presenting some challenges, but despite that, LaPorte faced that challenge and did very well.

Varsity times:

  • 2 Hubner 16:03
  • 6 Dubbs 16:43
  • 9 Didion 16:48
  • 15 Owen 17:01
  • 23 Gerick 17:14
  • 26 Huckstread 17:17
  • 33 Didion 17:14
