La Porte Salvation Army Benefits from 2nd Annual Music for Food Fest

salvation-army-music-food-festTone Cardinale, a local musician, organized and orchestrated the second annual “Music for Food Fest” this summer. Tone rallied local musicians for this day long concert held at Casey Lanes in La Porte. Proceeds were donated to the Salvation Army’s “Backpack Food for Kids Program” which will feed over 300 elementary school children six meals each weekend for the entire school year.

He plans to continue to make this a yearly festival in honor of the program as he and many of the musicians believe this program is “truly a blessing” for our community. The festival collected food and monetary donations, hosted kids games in a family friendly atmosphere, and provided amazing music to draw the town together and spread awareness about the local need for feeding our children.

Over the last two years the concerts have raised nearly $3500.00 for the purpose of feeding our hungry children in La Porte. Hats off and a huge thank you to Tone, all the musicians who participated, the community for supporting the effort and to Casey Lanes for providing the venue!
