La Porte Police Department Announces Blitz #74 Results

La-Porte-Police-DepartmentThe La Porte Police Department joined more than 250 other Indiana law enforcement in stepping up their traffic safety enforcement efforts during Operation Pull Over Blitz #74 which ran from March 8, 2013 through March 24, 2013 and targeted aggressive and impaired driving.

During Blitz #74, officers from the La Porte Police Department worked 70.5 hours of impaired driving patrols and 85 hours of aggressive driving patrols. During these patrols officers made six misdemeanor arrests and one felony arrest for Operating While Intoxicated. Officers also made six criminal arrests including two arrests for Possession of Marijuana and one arrest for Possession of a Legend Drug. Officers also wrote 234 citations and 186 warnings for other violations. Of those citations, 130 were for speeding; 18 for were for stop sign and traffic signal violations; 34 were for seat belt violations; six for child restraint violations and the rest were for various other offenses.

This enforcement effort was all increasing traffic safety by addressing dangerous driving behaviors such as impaired and aggressive driving. The officers of the La Porte Police Department will continue to work hard toward increasing traffic safety in the City of La Porte both by enforcement and increasing public awareness,” said Captain Tom Heath.
