The La Porte High School Marching Band placed 2nd at the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Scholastic A Class State Championship. The state finals were held October 24 at Lawrence Central High School in Indianapolis. With thirteen bands competing for the class state championship the top five finishing bands were announced as follows:
- Chesterton
- La Porte
- Warsaw
- Mount Vernon
- Warren Central
This concludes the competitive season for the La Porte Marching Band. The band will now begin preparations for their performance in the 2015 Philadelphia Thanksgiving Day Parade. This will mark the band’s third performance at the oldest Thanksgiving parade in the United States which is currently sponsored and aired by ABC owned-and-operated television station WPVI-TV, through a co-sponsorship agreement with restaurant chain Dunkin' Donuts. The parade was originally known as the Gimbels Thanksgiving Day Parade until Gimbels department store closed operations in 1986.
The La Porte Marching Band will hold its annual awards night dinner November 2 at 6:00 PM in the LPHS Cafeteria.
