La Porte Little Theatre to Recreate The Wild West

laporte-little-cowboyLaPorte Little Theatre Club will recreate the old west when it opens their 89th theatre season with the fun filled musical “The Singin Cowboy” this Friday at 7:30 pm.

Directed by Robert W. Komendera and assistant directed by Kelly Marie Moser, The Singin’ Cowboy tells the tale of how the Singin’ Cowboy tames the fierce Tumbleweed Tammy and converts her gang of outlaws to the ways of goodness.

Jam-packed with gunfights, a hangin’, a half-million-dollar bank heist, saloon girls and cowhands, a good-hearted Madam, hilarious dialogue and a wagonload of strummable, hummable tunes, . Singin’, as he’s usually called, is the finest shot and the best musician in the Wild Wild West.

When Singin’ is captured by Tumbleweed Tammy and her ragtag band of bandits, they force him to help them pull off Tammy’s biggest caper yet—stealing a half-million-dollar payroll from the safe down at the town saloon.

One by one, however, Singin’ converts Tammy’s gang from a life of thievin’ and killin’ to a life of song and harmony—using nothing but his innate musical talents and his aw-shucks charm. Even his aptly named horse, Tempo, gets in on the act.

Sidesaddle Sal, Cookie and Preacher quickly all succumb to our hummin’ hero’s charisma. That leaves only Spade—Tammy's bumbling right-hand man—and the orneriest bandit in the West, Tumbleweed Tammy herself. Despite the fact that she and Singin’ are on opposite sides of the law, his croonin’ has got even her swoonin’ too. Meanwhile, the town’s sheriff, Cyrus Potts, is forced to do his sworn duty and hang his best friend Singin’ for taking part in the robbery.

The whole town turns out for the hangin’, and the weather is just perfect. The talented cast stars Dan Moser, Mary Kay Steele, Susie Richter, Matt Robinson, Patrick Watterson, Jack Saunders, Amanda Sixbury, Geovanny Tapia, Ian Leo Pappas, Bonnie Quigley, Thom Nelson, Katy Gartland, and Greta Friedman.
