La Porte Little Theater Club Presents “Fiddler on the Roof”

Footlight-Fiddler-on-the-Roof-Publicity“This show is about family connections and the love they have with each other, with God and the world around them”, director Robert Komendera said of LaPorte Little Theater Club's upcoming production of “Fiddler on the Roof”. This is America's most beloved musical because it teaches us the lesson that families and friends can band together to survive even when things turn out bad. The story has Tevye, (Larry Piotrowski) an overworked, philosophical dairyman trying to maintain order with his Jewish family in his little hometown of Anatevka in the early 1900s on the eve of the Russian revolution.

His troubles start early on when his eldest daughter, Tzeitel (Maggie Cornett) bucks tradition and chooses her own husband without the help of Yente, the matchmaker (Susie Richter). Why couldn't she just marry the old, rich town butcher, Lazar Wolf (Matt Robinson) instead of her young beau, the poor tailor of the town, Motel (Tone Cardinale). Tevye wishes he could figure out how he can convince his sharp-tongued wife Golde (Rachel Best) that this is indeed a good idea.

Tevye's troubles are just beginning, as there are still two marriageable daughters at home, Hodel (Molly Hodges) and Chava (Grace Tarnow) who bring even more havoc to his life-not to mention that the entire village may have to leave the home they've known all their lives. Komendera states that many of the characters are very relatable and such well known songs like “Sunrise, Sunset” and “Miracle of Miracles” will have you humming a tune or two on the home.

Additional cast members are Ava Lee Abraham, Cole Antrim, Shelby Attar, Sam Blackburn, Jadeyn Cardinale, Noel Carlson, Isaac Chezem, Sophie and Sue Chlebek, Jonathan and Joy Davidson, Sheryl and Tom Edwards, Katy and Natalie Gartland, Greg Geyer, Erika, Kayla and Nicolle Grant, Bethany Gunter, Erin Hayman, Anthony Holt, Ginny Johnson, Dan Moser, Grace Murphy, Kyle Oscarson, Ian Pappas, Alexus Passmore, Shelley Regan, Jackie and Jacob Robinson, Alyssa Rosselli, Jack Saunders, Christopher Schnick, Isabella Shula, Josie Smith, Madeline Stack, Michael and Tony Thomas, Mary Watterson, Makayla Wysocki and Lena Levi as the fiddler on the roof.

Aside from Komendera’s direction he also acts as choreographer. Kelley Marie Moser is the assistant director with Sharon Angelina as the musical and vocal director.
