La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership (LEAP) Letter from the President

Dear LEAP Members,
We have had an exciting year thus far and hopefully more success to continue in the remainder of 2019 and beyond. I wanted to first thank you all for continuing to support our transition with your partnership and resources.
We held the Disney Institute in partnership with the La Porte Community Schools and the La Porte Education Foundation, which had over 175 participant in attendance at Purdue Northwest, Westville Campus. This was the second series of four which will continue in the summer of 2020.
We provided our first "Maximizing Your Membership" quarterly series on July 9, 2019. We had 15 participants between the morning and afternoon sessions. This series will be held quarterly with the next session scheduled for October 8, 2019. We focus on giving our new members and current members an opportunity to take a deeper dive into LEAP's mission and activities throughout the year. This is a key component to engaging our members and bringing value to your membership.
Since March 2019 we have had over 40 Retention and Expansion visits to both member and non-member businesses. We have utilized partnerships with our R&E committee, the La Porte County Economic Development Office, City of La Porte leadership, the Northwest Indiana Forum and the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. We are gaining valuable insight to our area business opportunities and challenges. The largest opportunity derived from this meetings creating an employable workforce in the greater La Porte area.
If you haven't visited our new website, please go to www.laportepartnership.com LEAP partnered with Duneland Media for an upgraded, sharp and user-friendly site to provide our membership with a more interactive experience. Please make sure you are following our weekly activities and like us on Facebook at https://www.facebook.com/LaPortePartnership, Twitter at http://www.twitter.com/LEAPartnership, and Instagram at http://www.instagram.com/laportepartnership
Our Workforce Taskforce has been a valuable connector to helping bridge the gap between our workforce, employers and resources to fill every job in the greater La Porte area. Their current initiative involves a survey circulating through our community, stakeholders and employers on Child Care needs in our county. They are gathering valuable data to provide solutions resulting from Child Care obstacles identified in this survey to help improve employee attendance, efficiency and culture.
Lastly, we are asking our members to provide the most current contact information for your company. As we continue to look for ways to improve our processes, we have found that we need to keep up with the changing workforce. We can only disseminate information efficiently if we have the correct contact information in our database. Please take a moment to sign into your ChamberMaster account or email our office your primary, billing and any additional contacts so the right people are receiving correspondence from LEAP.
Sincerely,
Mike RiehlePresident of Chamber Services
