The La Porte County Solid Waste District’s compost site at Westville Correctional Facility will be open most Saturdays in May and June to help gardeners prepare for the spring planting season.
The site on County Road 1100 West will be open each Saturday from 8 to 11 a.m. May 3rd through June 28, except for June 7. Compost and mulch are available for sale at $11 per cubic yard at the site, which is open to both residents and businesses. Regular business hours are 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Friday.
