La Porte County Residents Should Apply Now for Phase 2 State Rental Assistance Program

La Porte County residents in need of rental assistance should apply now to a federally-funded state program offering additional assistance on a first-come, first-served basis.

IndianaHousingNow.org will begin taking applications October 13, 2020 and they are expected to fill quickly, tenants who qualify are encouraged to apply early. Phase 2 of the Emergency Service Grant Covid-19 (ESG-CV) Program will provide rental assistance for applicants with income capped at 0-50% AMI beginning April 1, 2020 related to COVID-19. New income limits in La Porte are single person ($23,000) and family of 4 ($32,500).

Despite the moratorium, eviction cases in La Porte County are now starting up for those who have had income, but have not paid rent or communicated with their landlord and/or have other verified lease violations.

The State of Indiana is offering this next phase of assistance to keep people housed, prevent homelessness and ensure landlords receive entitled payments.
