La Porte County Public Library Receives Award at Luncheon

lpc-libraryLa Porte and Porter County Convention and Visitors Bureaus held their annual R.O.S.E. Award Luncheon on May 9, at the Stardust Event Center at Blue Chip Casino in Michigan City. There, individuals, businesses, and organizations are recognized for outstanding customer service and contribution to their communities with awards in various categories.

This year, La Porte County Public Library received the Quality of Life/Quality of Place Award. This award is given to a person, business or organization that recognizes that quality of life and quality of place in La Porte County is of the utmost importance in retaining the current population, in attracting new folks and encouraging visitors to return to our county. The Library’s mission statement is the definition of the requirements of the award as “La Porte County Public Library is the center of community life with a focus on reading, lifelong learning and public involvement”.

R.O.S.E. stands f or recognition of service excellence. The annual R.O.S.E. Luncheon is held each year during National Tourism Week and the location of the luncheon changes from La Porte to Porter Counties each year.

The Main Branch of the La Porte County Public Library is located at 904 Indiana Avenue in La Porte. Other library locations include Coolspring, Rolling Prairie, Fish Lake, Kingsford Heights, Hanna, and Union Mills. The La Porte County Public Library also has a mobile library which travels throughout La Porte County.
