La Porte County Public Library is offering a Spring Break Art Camp at the Main Library during the week of April 6 through 10 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Children will be able to learn about a different artist each day of camp and try their hand at the artist’s style of art.
On Monday, April 6 they will learn about the “Prince of Pop,” Andy Warhol and make their own rendition of Soup Can Pop Art.
Wednesday, April 8 children will have the opportunity to learn about the famous glass artist Chihuly. They will make a bowl shaped form call Macchia out of a coffee filter which will replicate Chihuly’s glass works.
Friday, April 10 abstract artist Jackson Pollock will be discussed and the children will experiment in splatter painting with tennis balls and a kiddie pool to create their masterpiece.
The Library is pleased to offer children a chance to improve motor skills, language development, decision making, visual learning, inventiveness, cultural awareness, and improved academic performance all while having fun through these classes.
