The La Porte County Public Library has an online collection of electronic talking picture books, read-alongs, and games called Tumblebooks. This service teaches young children and reluctant readers the joys of reading in a fun, interactive way.
With over 17 thousand book views in 2012, the Library has expanded this service with the edition of Tumblebooks Cloud and Tumblebooks Cloud Junior. In addition to the existing Tumblebooks, which provides the talking animated picture books and read-alongs, the updated service will include chapter books, nonfiction, videos, and graphic novels.
Tumblebooks Cloud Junior was created for readers looking for all the children’s classics and read-along titles who wish to go beyond the picture book collection in the Tumblebook Library. Tumblebook Cloud is an online collection of eBooks and read-along chapter books, graphic novels, educational videos, and audio books intended for high school and middle school readers.
More and more readers are choosing eBooks as their preferred method of reading. As a result, the library is working to provide expanded access to these types of materials.
All these Tumblebooks services are compatible with smartphones, tablets, pc’s, and more without download or installation of any software or app. The only thing needed is an internet connection. All books are available with unlimited access, all the time, from any device just by visiting laportelibrary.org.
