La Porte County Public Library has launched a monthly series entitled Local Lore, which includes a presenter and explores historic elements of La Porte County. The first in the series, Local Lore: Genealogy Chat, has been rescheduled for June 3 due to the recent weather conditions.
The next in the series is Local Lore: Belle Gunness. This program is scheduled for February 11, at 6:30pm at the Main Library location. Local expert on Belle Gunness, Bruce Johnson, will present major facts and mysteries concerning Belle Gunness, who has been called the first female serial murderer in the United States. Everyone attending will be able to ask questions and comment on this infamous resident of La Porte. The Local Lore series is free to the public.

The Main Branch of the La Porte County Public Library is located at 904 Indiana Avenue in La Porte. Other library locations include Coolspring, Rolling Prairie, Fish Lake, Kingsford Heights, Hanna, and Union Mills.
