At the July 28 Library Board of Trustees meeting, the Board approved closing the Rolling Prairie Branch on September 1. The last open day will be August 31. The decision to close the branch was made so that the construction of the branch can be completed before asphalt production stops for the year due to fall temperatures and weather. The completion of the parking lot also directly impacts the installation of the sidewalks, lighting, and landscaping.
While this closing is earlier than anticipated it will minimize the impact to library service to the community. It will be possible for construction at the branch to be completed at least 30 days ahead of the projected completion date. Library service to Rolling Prairie will continue through extended Mobile Library stops, visits to the local schools and childcare centers, and lobby stops at the food pantry. A schedule of planned Mobile Library stops is available at all library locations and online at laportelibrary.org.
