The chairman of the Shapiro La Porte County Poet Laureate Competition, Barbara Friedman, has announced that the deadline for the submission of poems for the 2014 competition is August 5, 2013.
Each entrant should submit two separate poems on any title they wish, but each poem should be double spaced and no longer than one page each.
As in the past, the entrant will be judged by a panel of educators and it will be a blind judging so that the judges are totally unaware of the identity of the entrants.
All residents of La Porte County are strongly urged to enter as are any and all previous winners. The top four winners will receive trophies and the Poet Laureate will also receive a $250.00 honorarium. The winners will be announced at the end of the month at arts in the park.
