La Porte County Public Library has launched a monthly series entitled Local Lore, which includes a presenter and explores historic elements of La Porte County. February's Local Lore spotlighted Belle Gunness and the crowd gathered to hear Belle Gunness expert Bruce Johnson tell tales and unknown facts about the United States' first female serial murderer.
The next in the series is Local Lore: The Underground Railroad on Tuesday, March 25 at 6:30pm in the Indiana Room of La Porte County Public Library's Main Location. La Porte County Historian Fern Eddy Schultz will discuss the Underground Railroad and the important impact it had in the United States as well as the profound impact it had on La Porte County. The Local Lore series is free to the public.
