Twenty-nine members and guests enjoyed the program at the monthly meeting of the La Porte County Indiana Genealogical Society on August 9, 2016. The group met at the La Porte Park Department Headquarters.
After refreshments, the meeting continued with a program by La Porte County Historical Society President Bruce Johnson. He displayed documents and photographs related to his ancestors from Sweden, who emigrated from a southern part of that country and settled in the part of La Porte County commonly labeled “the Swedish Hills”.
On September 13, 2016, at 7 PM, the society will meet again at the Park Department. The recipients of certificates for early residency in La Porte County will be honored. Guests and questions are always welcome.
