La Porte County Habitat Seeks Volunteers Beginning June 26, 2017

La-Porte-County-Habitat-Seeks-Volunteers-Beginning-June-26-2017Construction is about to begin on our home at 1922 Tennessee Street in Michigan City. Mission groups from St. John's Church, Archbold Ohio, and St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Oak Harbor, Ohio will be working at the house the weeks of June 12 and June 19.

Beginning the week of June 26, we will be seeking community volunteers 18 years and older for our construction schedule of Tuesdays, Thursday, and Saturdays.

Bring your tool pouch if you have one. But most of all, bring your willingness to help. Chris Schwanke with Classsic Builders is our construction manager this year. He will ensure you have the safety training and instruction to make your volunteer experience rewarding. High skill, low skill, middle skill -- all are invited.

Plan to arrive about 8 a.m. You will be asked to sign a volunteer waiver (one-time), as well as a volunteer sign in/sign out sheet. We usually work until 3 or 4 p.m., but you are free to stay as long as you can. Dress comfortably, but please, no open toed shoes. Work boots are preferable if you have them. If not, tennis shoes are okay.

Any amount of time that you can spend with us on any day or days is very much appreciated! If you plan to volunteer on any of the dates above, please email me at exdir@laportehabitat.org or sign up here: http://tinyurl.com/Construction-Volunteer

Businesses, organizations, and churches that want to come on a "special build day" are welcome also!
