La Porte County Habitat Restore Expands Hours, Offers Enhanced Shopping Experience

Habitat-for-HumanityLaPorte County Habitat for Humanity has announced expanded hours of operation for its ReStore, effective immediately.

Under its new operating schedule, the ReStore is open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Sunday from noon until 5 p.m.

The ReStore, located at 225 East Garfield Street in Michigan City, features new and gently used items donated by individuals and businesses.

A toll free number has been added for those requesting a pickup of donations. "This will expedite the logistics of responding to our generous donors and provide them will more prompt pickups and scheduling," said Bob Long, executive director of LaPorte County Habitat. The donation hotline number is 844-517-1693. For those planning home remodeling projects, salvage services are also available.

Long noted that shoppers will now find a wider variety of merchandise, including ceramic tile, laminate flooring, carpeting, (new) mattresses and more large appliances.

Habitat for Humanity ReStores are nonprofit home improvement stores and donation centers that sell new and gently used furniture, home accessories, building materials, and appliances to the public at a fraction of the retail price.

"Sales from the ReStore generate funds for Habitat's primary mission, which is to build affordable, decent housing for low to moderate income families in our community," Long noted. "We are excited about the enhancements to our ReStore. Its success enables us to continue to build strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter for local families in need."
