La Porte County Habitat ReStore Announces Expanded Hours in August 2015

Habitat-RestoreLaPorte County Habitat for Humanity has announced expanded hours of operation for its ReStore, effective Wednesday, August 5.

Most significant is the addition of an extra shopping day, Wednesday. Under the new schedule, the store will operate on Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m., and on Saturdays from 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

“We thought it was important to add Wednesday hours for the convenience of our regular customers, and those who continue to discover us each week,” said Dan Zeilbeck, ReStore Manager.

The ReStore, located at the corner of 10th and Huron Streets in Michigan City, features new and gently used items donated by individuals and businesses. Among the best sellers are large and small appliances, building materials, furniture, and household items. However, the eclectic range of items is something that Zeilbeck says keeps customers curious and coming back each week. “You might find an antique desk, a Hammond organ, a china cabinet, or a weight bench. Our stock literally varies from day to day.”

Zeilbeck pointed out that the ReStore also carries its own brand of recycled paint, and paint accessories. “Paint is one of our best sellers,” he said.

“Sales from the ReStore generate funds for Habitat’s primary mission, which is to build affordable, decent housing for low to moderate income families in our community,” noted Bob Long, executive director. “The success of the ReStore directly impacts the financial health of our organization.”
