Keith Hite has joined LaPorte County Habitat for Humanity as its construction manager for 2016. Hite will be managing all aspects of the project at 911 Park Street in LaPorte.
Hite has been a teacher at New Prairie High School for 25 years. There he has taught a variety of courses including architectural drafting, construction, electricity, woodworking, auto and metals. His Building Trades classes have built nine homes and remodeled the Kankakee Township Fire Department during the last 10 years. He presently sits on the board of directors of the Builders Association of LaPorte County.
"I'm excited to get involved with Habitat to help a great organization," Hite said.
"We are pleased to have Keith on board. His hands-on experience plus his skills as an educator make Keith the perfect individual to deal with all facets of the project, and to coach our volunteers," said Bob Long, executive director of LaPorte County Habitat. "For the last month and a half, he has immersed himself in planning and budgeting to enable this project to go forward smoothly. We expect groundbreaking to occur in early May."
