"Most recently, we received a $10,000 grant from 1st Source Bank Foundation towards our project," said Bob Long, executive director of LaPorte County Habitat.

"All told, individuals, businesses, churches, civic groups and foundations have contributed nearly $25,000 in matching funds."

"The generous gift from 1st Source elevates us to 70% of our goal of $35,000," Long explained. "Their participation as a major community partner is very much appreciated."

Money raised through the challenge match is funding construction of a Habitat Home at 911 Park Street in LaPorte. The home is the 50th built by the local affiliate as it celebrates 30 years of providing low cost, affordable housing in LaPorte County.

The 2016 Challenge Match began in response to an offer from an anonymous donor to pledge up to $35,000 for home construction for this year. The donor requested that Habitat raise an equal amount from the community. Long notes that the potential funding of $70,000 will cover the cost of the home.

"The challenge will continue throughout the year until our goal is reached," Long says. "Gifts of any size are very much appreciated."
