La Porte County Habitat for Humanity Accepting Partner Family Applications Through May 1, 2017

La-Porte-County-Habitat-for-HumanityLa Porte County Habitat for Humanity is accepting applications for a partner family for its 2017 build in Michigan City. Habitat for Humanity houses are sold to qualified partner families at no profit, financed with affordable, no interest loans. The homeowner's monthly mortgage payments go into a fund that enables Habitat to "pay it forward" by building more homes.

Families are chosen based on their ability to meet qualification requirements. Applications are assessed by the Family Selection Committee, which reviews the family's need for a home, ability to pay and willingness to partner.

If selected, the family is required to contribute 500 hours of "sweat equity" to build their own home and to assist with other Habitat projects.

Applications are available at the administrative office at 225 East Garfield Street Tuesday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. Applications are also available at www.laportehabitat.org/HomeOwnership/.

Before applying, please visit www.laportehabitat.org to see if you fall within the income qualification guidelines. They can be found at www.laportehabitat.org/homeownership/Income Applications should be returned to La Porte Habitat for Humanity, PO Box 8874, Michigan City, Indiana 46361-8874 no later than May 1, 2017.
