La Porte County Genealogical Society Holds Meeting of July 2017

lcigs-logoSixteen members and guests were present for the regular monthly meeting of the La Porte County (IN) Genealogical Society at the La Porte Parks Department Building at 250 Pine Lake Avenue in La Porte, Tuesday evening, July 11. The meeting was called to order at 7:10pm by the Secretary, Alan Zeller.

Following the business portion of the meeting and refreshments provided by Lester Chadwick, Zeller talked of his experience with autosomal DNA tests for genealogy. Titled “What do All Those Numbers Mean?”, his examples from various on-line sites were intended to indicate when genetic results were most helpful.

August 9, the Society will hear from meet at the La Porte County Public Library, in meeting room A. Beginning at a time earlier than normal, 6:15 PM, the members and guests will be advised as the changes made to the Indiana Room and the Local History and Genealogical collections since the re-opening of the renovated main location of the library. Mary Hedge, Professional Librarian, will be our guide.
