The La Porte County Family YMCA- LaPorte Branch is currently registering participants for its Youth Girls’ Basketball program. Parents may register their child during any open hours at the Y Member Services desk or on-line at www.lpymca.org.
The program includes divisions for kindergarten/first grade, second/third grade and fourth/fifth grade. The kindergarten/first-grade division includes a weekly scrimmage preceded by half an hour of instruction. The second/third-grade division includes a weekly game and one weekday practice. The fourth/fifth-grade division includes a weekly game and one weekday practices.
The season begins with a coach’s clinic on Wednesday, October 14th. Practices start the week of November 2nd. Games begin Saturday, November 7th, and run through Saturday, December 19th with no games on November 28th.
The cost is $42 per child for Y members and $60 per child for non-members. All players receive a Y basketball shirt and certificates.
The league needs coaches and referees for the upcoming season.
