We will be holding our annual Future Careers Expo on Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017. Once again we are asking our business partners to assist us by providing all of our students with the experience of “Mock Employment Interviews”. This has become an extremely important and successful part of the day. We receive many positive comments from both the interviewers and the students about this valuable experience.
The “Mock Interview” gives many of our students their first exposure to the interviewing process. At our Career Expo, we strive to provide the students with the opportunity to participate in three interviews. The more they practice, the more comfortable they become in a job search setting. Our volunteers come from all segments of the community. Anyone who has had experience interviewing potential employees, who has a supervisory role, or who is knowledgeable about the process is an asset. We provide the desk, the students to be interviewed, the questions, and an evaluation form for the Interviewer to use. All we need is your expertise! Session One takes place from approximately 7:45 AM to 9:25 AM. Session Two runs from about 12:00 PM to 1:50 PM. Volunteer interviewers can work one or both sessions depending upon their schedule.
An overview of the day is as follows: We ask all morning interviewers to arrive by 7:20 AM in order to be organized and ready to begin interviewing at 7:45 AM. There will be a break from 9:45 AM to 11:45 AM when preparation for the second round of interviews begins. Afternoon only interviewers should arrive by 11:30 AM.
During the morning and afternoon sessions the students will be rotating through three programs: hearing a guest speaker, participating in the Mock Interviews, and visiting the career tables sponsored by colleges, universities, apprenticeship programs and the military.
We would really appreciate it if you would consider being a part of this important event. Please respond to let me know if you are available to join us (or if you are not able to participate). Thank you for investing your time in our young people who are the workforce of the future.
We hope you will join us.
