The La Porte Community Turbos Swim Club participated in the USA Swimming Age Group State meet July 28-30 at The Natatorium in Indianapolis. This meet is for the top swimmers (ages 14 and younger) in Indiana compete against each other. Swimmers must have had a qualifying time in their age group and gender, which is set each September by Indiana Swimming, within the last year to qualify for this meet. The Turbos' Graham Siefker had a fantastic meet and competed in the 100 Backstroke, 50 Freestyle and 200 Backstroke.
Graham finished above his seed times and ranking in each of his events. Graham was seeded 45th in his 50 freestyle and placed 17th with a time of 27.31 and was seeded 22nd in the 200 Backstroke and finished with a 12th place finish in the prelims. His most notable swim was his 100 Backstroke. He was seeded 17th with a 1:10.47, swam in the prelims finishing with a 1:06.22 and climbing to 7th place. This secured his spot on the podium and receiving a medal. Later in the finals, Graham then dropped more time, finishing with a time of 1:05.45, earning a 5th place finish! Fast weekend, great swims!
In August, Jacob Cooper will be competing in Nashville, TN at the Futures meet. We also have swimmers competing in Elkhart at the North Divisionals Championship meet. Good Luck Turbos. Swim hard. Swim Fast.
