LaLumiereMartyLa Lumiere senior, Martin H. Crowe of Owensboro, Kentucky, was named a Semifinalist in the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Competition on September 11. More than 1.5 million juniors entered the 2014 National Merit Scholarship Program by taking the 2012 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT), which served as an initial screen of program entrants.

During this past summer, Marty traveled on a service trip to Peru to spend eight weeks working with Amigos de las Américas, an organization that inspires and builds young leaders through collaborative community development and immersion in cross-cultural experiences.

The nationwide pool of Semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors, includes the highest scoring entrants in each state.
