Sahi Strong Night returns to La Lumiere School this Friday Night, once again highlighting the Aameer Sahi Foundation and its important work in the fight against cancer. On February 9th, La Lumiere’s national basketball team will face off against Centerville, the number six ranked team, from Ohio.
The game promises to be a memorable event with an exciting matchup between two formidable teams and a heartfelt tribute to Aameer’s competitive spirit. Centerville (OH) features Xavier University signee Jonathan Powell and will contend for a State title in Ohio later this year. Last year’s matchup between the two teams was a close contest, with the Lakers outlasting Centerville and current Indiana Hoosier Gabe Cupps. La Lumiere is ranked #6 in the nation according to the latest ESPN poll released on Monday, February 5th. The game will take place at Historic Marsch Gymnasium at 6:00 p.m. CST.
La Lumiere will be wearing their new Sahi Strong alternate uniforms that are royal blue with green trim, and feature “Sahi Strong” across the back. There will be a raffle for a special #24 uniform signed by the team, with proceeds benefiting the foundation. All fans are encouraged to wear green to take part in the celebration.
Sahi Strong Night began in 2018 as a special benefit basketball game in honor of Aameer Sahi ‘16, a cherished member of the La Lumiere community who bravely battled Malignant Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumor (MPNST), a form of sarcoma cancer. Sahi, a member of La Lumiere’s class of 2016, left a lasting mark on our community with his kindness, resilience, and unwavering spirit. Despite his challenging diagnosis, Aameer inspired everyone around him with his courage and positivity.
