La Lumiere School’s Science Olympiad Team Competes in State Competition for the 23rd Consecutive Year

14-Science-Olympiad-StateThe Laker Science Team placed 11th out of thirty teams competing in the Indiana Science Olympiad State Competition at Indiana University, Bloomington on March 22. Each school competes in 23 different events in the fields of earth science, biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, and problem solving. In a contest without classes, La Lumiere continues to play “David” to its “Goliath” competition beating teams with enrollments ten to fifteen times its size.

The following students earned medals: Vesper Yun of Korea and Cortney Meyer of Michigan City placed third in Mission Possible Rube-Goldberg Device; Marina Walinski of Rolling Prairie and Noah Schuster of La Porte placed fourth in Entomology; Kelly Barr of La Porte, Courtney Meyer, and Marina Walinski placed fourth in Experimental Design; Ian Miner of Ada, MI and Courtney Meyer placed fifth in Magnetic Levitation, and Penfie Jiao of China placed fifth in Scrambler Vehicle.
