La Lumiere School’s Madison Kemper Earns Three State Championship Titles at Academic Decathlon

Madison-KemperSenior Madison Kemper of New Buffalo, MI received three state championship titles at the 28th Annual Indiana Academic Decathlon State Finals in February on the Purdue University, West Lafayette Campus. Competing at the State Finals for the fourth consecutive year, La Lumiere School placed 1st in Math, 1st in Interview, 5th in the small school division and 9th overall at the state competition.

Madison Kemper placed 1st in Overall, Social Science, and Language and Literature; 2nd in Speech, Math, and Science; and 3rd in Interview and Art. In addition, Keith Miller of South Bend was a State Champion receiving 1st place in Speech in the Varsity Division.

Students compete in the Academic Decathlon in three divisions determined by GPA— Honors Division, Scholastic Division and Varsity Division. In addition to Kemper and Miller, the following La Lumiere students won medals:

Danielle Ivanovich of Chesterton placed 2nd in Social Studies and 3rd in Speech.

Patrick Lake of La Porte competed in the Scholastic Division and placed 3rd in Interview and 3rd in Math.

Lenik Zaranski of Chesterton competed in the Varsity Division and placed 3rd in Economics.
