La Lumiere School welcomed families from six states and two countries to campus for its annual Parents Weekend on September 26 and 27. The celebration kicked off Friday evening with dinner for over 500 followed by the Senior Bonfire – a rite of passage students anticipate from their freshman year. Saturday morning dawned bright and warm, perfect weather for the many activities planned to showcase La Lumiere for its visiting families. Laker athletics had a good day across the board with girls’ soccer beating Westville, volleyball defeating South Bend Trinity, and football getting the best of Elkhart Christian.
As tradition dictates, a Laker football win leads to a dip in Lake La Lumiere for the players and coaches – pads and all. During the action, fans gathered for a barbecue served at the athletic fields. Senior athletes for fall sports were honored during a special ceremony held at half-time of the football game. The day ended with a Catholic Mass celebrated by Fr. Wayne Watts of St. John Berchem in Chicago.
