La Lumiere School welcomed families from six states and two countries to campus for its annual Parents Weekend on October 11 and 12. The celebration kicked off Friday evening with dinner for over 400 followed by the senior bonfire – a rite of passage students anticipate from their freshman year.
Saturday morning dawned bright and warm, perfect weather for the many activities planned to showcase La Lumiere for its visiting families. Parents, siblings and friends enjoyed watching the Laker football team defeat Elkhart Christian. As tradition dictates, a Laker football win leads to a dip in Lake La Lumiere for the players and coaches – pads and all.
After the football game, fans gathered for a barbecue followed by JV and varsity volleyball games. The Laker ladies fought hard but were unable to defeat Gavit High School. Senior athletes for fall sports were honored during a special ceremony held between the volleyball games.
The day ended with a Catholic Mass celebrated by Fr. Joel Fortier before fall break officially began Saturday evening.
