La Lumiere School Offers Camp Invention Summer Program

Camp-InventionLa Lumiere School offers a five day summer science program for children entering grades one through six. The Camp Invention program instills vital 21st century life skills such as problem-solving and teamwork through hands-on fun.

The first session runs Monday, July 15 through Friday, July 19, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The second session runs Monday, July 22 through Friday, July 26, 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Cost per week is $220; $215 if purchased online. All times are Central time.

First session modules include: Ecoverse™ -- expedition teams embark on a quest to explore the Earth in the sky, underwater, on land, and underground; Cache Dash™ -- children are recruited to become global expedition team members; I Can Invent: Launchitude™ -- expedition teams put physics (trajectory and velocity) into practical use as they take apart broken appliances and re-engineer the gears and gadgets; Amazing Atlas Games -- Expedition teams travel the globe to investigate five extremes of the natural world: heat, height, crystals, water, and cold.

Second session modules include: W!LD: Wondrous Innovations and Living Designs™ -- children embark on a wild animal adventure to investigate some of the most spectacular and innovative animals on the planet; Bounce! An Atomic Journey -- through the dynamic use of chemistry, experiments, and investigations, children bounce their way through atoms, molecules, mixtures, and compounds to figure out how cool matter, like a bouncy ball, is created; I Can Invent III -- children use science, creative problem-solving, and hands-on applications to further their inventiveness and critical-thinking skills; and Geo-Games -- children practice teamwork, cooperation, coordination and creative problem solving processes during fun, energetic games.

Like all Camp Invention modules, winning and losing isn't important. Instead, modules stress creative problem solving and encourage active physical participation that boosts self-confidence.
