La Lumiere School is proud to announce the 2014 Excellence in Teaching Award recipient is Mr. Jason Hunter, a 7th and 8th grade social studies and history teacher at The Stanley Clark School in South Bend. The Excellence in Teaching Award is given annually to recognize and reward professionals in our community who are committed to the vocation of teaching and who provide an outstanding middle school education for our local students.
Recipients of the Excellence in Teaching Award teach 6th, 7th, or 8th grade and are nominated by their students. One of the student nominators said of Mr. Hunter, “This exceptional mentor truly brought history to life in his classroom by making the lessons come awake for each and every student.” The Excellence in Teaching Award includes dinner and a movie for two each month of the school year. This year’s generous donors include Bentwood Tavern, Galveston Steakhouse, Hard Rock Café, Heston Supper Club, Redamak’s, The Stray Dog, The Terrace Room, Tosi’s Restaurant, and Trattoria Enzo.

Headmaster Michael Kennedy commented: “We have seen and read hundreds of nominations from students since the inception of this award; this year was somewhat unique in that it was evident from the nominations that Mr. Hunter demonstrates his passion for his profession each and every day and is instilling a love of learning in his students.”
