La Lumiere School Earns Top Ten Finish in National Academic Decathlon Championship

 

Academic-Decathlon-1La Lumiere School’s State Championship Academic Decathlon team placed tenth out of eighteen teams competing in the small school division at the United States Academic Decathlon National Competition held this spring. This is the second year in a row that La Lumiere has earned the right to compete at the National Level. In March, the team earned a 2nd place finish in the Indiana State competition.

Students compete in the Academic Decathlon in three divisions determined by GPA; Honors Division, Scholastic Division and Varsity Division.

John Lake, a senior from La Porte, earned a Bronze medal in the Essay in the Honors Division and Hyeonji (Ginny) Lee, a senior from Seoul, South Korea, earned a Silver in Mathematics and a Silver in Science in the Academic-Decathlon-2Honors Division.
