La Lumiere Lakers Dig Pink for Cancer

dig-pink-team-pictureAs the calendar turned to October and Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the La Lumiere Lakers volleyball program joined forces with the Side-Out Foundation to raise funds for breast cancer research.

The team hosted Gary Westside for its third annual Dig Pink match on Wednesday, October 3 in the Marsch Gymnasium. The Lakers wore pink jerseys as did most of the La Lumiere fans. A bake sale and raffle were held during the game to raise funds for the Side-Out foundation.

Dig Pink events are held all over the country to support the work of the Side-Out Foundation, a charity that promotes volleyball events throughout the year to raise money for Breast Cancer research and community support services. Dig Pink hopes to raise $1.5 million this year, and the Lakers did their part.
