La Lumiere School proved to be too much for MaxPreps #24 ranked Yates High School, from Houston, TX as the Lakers won handily 96-60 at the Iolani Classic in Honolulu, HI.
The Lakers started fast, securing a 17 – 6 lead in the first four minutes of play. A physical and athletic Yates team applied pressure and the Lakers responded extending the lead to 59-41 at halftime. Jalen James put forth an excellent offensive performance with a strong defensive effort from Danylo Zuikov and Ade Aruna off the bench. Junior Sam Longwood finished with 27 and senior Jalen James with 21 points.
La Lumiere advances to the semi-finals with three of the top six ranked teams in the country. Tonight (10:30 CT) the Lakers will take on powerful #4 Oak Hill from Virginia. Following the Laker game, #2 Findlay Prep from Nevada will take on #6 Montrose Christian from Maryland. The finals will be played on Saturday.
